As its name implies, this program can read aloud written documents in different formats, such as plain text, MS Word, HTM and RTF. You only need to open the desired document and click on the 'Read document' button. The program will start reading aloud the text on the document. You can pause or stop the reading in any moment. Also, it is possible to modify the speed and pitch of the reading according to your needs. An interesting function is the possibility of recording the read text and save it as a sound file. You only need to choose the 'Save to audio file' option. The program can also read text from the clipboard, and read only the selected text. This can be useful if you only want to hear a part of a large text. Although the default voice is Microsoft Ana (an English female voice), you can change this setting and choose different voices in other languages such as Italian, Spanish, German, Dutch, and more. This adds versatility to the program.
Of course, you cannot expect the same quality of a human reading, since the program cannot recognize the inflections, tone and intention of the text. Nevertheless, it is a good and affordable option for listening to written materials instead of reading them.
You can use the trial version during 21 days. If you find the program useful and intend to keep using it after that period, you will need to purchase a license.
